  • This policy explains when and why we collect personal data from our customers and prospective customers, how we use this information, how we keep this information secure and the rights of the customer in relation to it.
  • We may collect, use and store personal data as described in this Data Privacy Policy when we collect data from our customers – for example when a customer asks for a quote or purchases a caravan.
  • We reserve the right to amend this Data Privacy Policy without prior notice and we advise to check our website for any updates.
  • We will always comply with applicable UK Data Protection legislation including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) when processing personal data. The Information Commissioner website (ico.gov.uk) contains further information regarding GDPR. For the purposes of GDPR Forest of Dean Caravans will be the data controller and any data we collect as a controller is called data processing.

  1. How We Protect Your Personal Data
  • We have implemented technological and operational security measures to ensure the safety of personal data from loss, misuse and unauthorised alteration or destruction.
  • Please note that when transmitting information to us via email or other internet methods we cannot definitely guarantee the safety of this information due to the fact that this data is not always encrypted.
  • In the event of a breach of customer personal data that might expose the customer to a serious risk we will notify the customer promptly.

 

  1. Who Else Has Access to the Information We Process
  • We will never sell personal data to a third party and will never share personal data with any third parties without prior consent from the customer (which can also be withheld by the customer) except when required to do so by law.
  • In the case of a customer buying a caravan we may sometimes pass information on to the caravan manufacturer (Swift Group Ltd or Bailey Caravans Ltd) through GDPR compliant mediums for the purpose of caravan warranty registration. This information will be used by those parties solely for the purpose of managing the warranty of the caravan and any other use would require further consent from the customer.
  • We may also pass personal data on to NCC CRiS for the purpose of registration of ownership of the caravan. This will only be done with the consent of the customer and via a GDPR compliant method.

 

  1. How Long Do We Keep Personal Data
  • Customers will have their data stored securely in our files for as long as is required by law for business records and/or the length of the warranty period applicable to the caravan they have purchased. We will stop processing personal data once we no longer are entitled to do so apart from archival purposes to be able to comply with future legal obligations, including but not limited to tax requirements and exemptions, and the establishment exercise or defence of legal claims.
  • We will regularly review the data collected from potential customers that have made an enquiry about a caravan and have given consent for us to keep the information securely on file. If we deem that we are no longer entitled to process this data we will securely destroy the personal data.
